What is a Dua in Islam?
A dua (دُعَاء) is a personal supplication or invocation made to Allah. It is one of the most beloved acts of worship in Islam — the Prophet Muhammad said: "Dua is the essence of worship" (Tirmidhi 3371). Every dua in this collection is sourced from the Quran or authenticated hadith with the original Arabic text, full transliteration and English meaning.
Why Learn Arabic Duas from the Sunnah?
While Allah accepts dua in all languages, the specific duas taught by the Prophet carry unique barakah (blessing). They were revealed or inspired by Allah and carry promises that general dua may not. Learning and memorizing them is itself an act of following the Sunnah.
When Are Duas Most Accepted?
Key times when duas are most accepted: the last third of the night (tahajjud), after obligatory prayers (in sujud), on Friday between Asr and Maghrib, while fasting, during rain, when making Hajj or Umrah, and during Laylatul Qadr in the last 10 nights of Ramadan.
