The Laylatul Qadr Dua
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Transliteration: Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul-'afwa fa'fu 'anni
Meaning: "O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me."

The Story Behind the Dua
Aisha (RA) asked the Prophet: "O Messenger of Allah, if I know which night is Laylatul Qadr, what should I say?" The Prophet replied: "Say: Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul-'afwa fa'fu 'anni." (Tirmidhi 3513)
The Virtue of Laylatul Qadr
- Better than 1,000 months (over 83 years of worship)
- The Quran was revealed on this night
- The angels descend with mercy and blessings
- Peace prevails until dawn
- Sins are forgiven for those who pray with faith and sincerity
"The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn." — Quran 97:3-5
When to Seek Laylatul Qadr
The Prophet said: "Seek it in the last ten nights of Ramadan, on the odd nights." (Bukhari 2017) — 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, or 29th night. Many scholars emphasize the 27th night.
Acts of Worship on Laylatul Qadr
- Recite this dua abundantly throughout the night
- Pray Tahajjud and long night prayers
- Recite and reflect on the Quran
- Make sincere repentance (Tawbah)
- Give charity
- Make dua for yourself, family, and the Ummah
