The Travel Dua — Arabic & Meaning

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Transliteration
Subhanalladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin, wa inna ila rabbina lamunqalibun
English Meaning
Glory be to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have done it by ourselves. And indeed, to our Lord we will return.

When to Recite

Recite when boarding any vehicle — car, plane, train, ship, or even an animal. The Prophet would recite this when mounting his camel for travel. Also recite when starting your journey and upon returning home safely.

"And He has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth — all from Him."

Complete Sunnah Travel Routine

1. Before Leaving Home
Dua for leaving home: "Bismillahi tawakkaltu 'ala Allah..."
2. When Boarding
Recite the travel dua above 3 times
3. During Journey
Recite "Allahu Akbar" when going uphill, "SubhanAllah" when going downhill
4. Upon Returning
"A'ibuna ta'ibuna 'abiduna lirabbina hamidun" — We return repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord
